WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese kanji name consisting of 2 words Rei which represents the spiritual source of the universe or the higher mind. Ki represents the primal life energy of the universe. So Reiki can be described as 'spiritually guided primal life energy' an energy which animates us all and is found all around us.
Reiki helps to harmonize body, mind and spirit for yourself or anyone you want to help. Reiki can only create good, it is never negative or harmful.
WHAT IS A REIKI TREATMENT?
You relax, fully clothed, on a massage table or lie on pillows on the floor (can also be performed while the person is in a chair) the practitioner places their hands on or above you, there are standard hand positions to treat the 7 chakras of the body (Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye-forehead or brow and crown). A treatment typically last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. Many practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body.
There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required (spiritually guided) and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience!
Reiki is an effective healing method
Reiki can be used for many ailments like reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, asthma - respiratory problems, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many more. Please note that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.
There is no spiritual belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment. The founder of Reiki, Dr. Usui, believed in God and referenced him in his teachings, but again it's about a higher power vs a set religion. As in any healing the first step towards a healthier life is a desire to be healed.
